About Lok Sabha Parliamentary Elections

The Lok Sabha (House of the People) is the lower house of India's bicameral Parliament. Members of Parliament (MPs) are elected by direct universal adult suffrage using a first-past-the-post voting system across 543 single-member parliamentary constituencies (84 reserved for Scheduled Castes, 47 for Scheduled Tribes, and 412 general).

A party or pre-poll alliance requires 272 seats to secure an absolute majority and form the Government of India.
